Algarve Guest House - we are looking for volunteers to help us out during 2024!
Volunteering in the Algarve, close to nature and to the beach
Overview:
We are a family run guesthouse in the countryside about 4 km away from the city and the coast line. Marc & Paula speak several languages and will help you with either Portuguese, French, English or even Swedish! Marc is a nature lover and he can teach you one thing or two in agriculture, maintenance, mechanics... We would love to have your help and learn from you too! If you wish to practice a specific language within those we can, then you have come to the right place! I have been a language teacher and have a degree in translations. Also, Marc is a handy man - if you wish to learn a specific trade, especially in agriculture, building or mechanics, he can help you with that too! We opened our guest house in 2013 and have had good and bad moments since we started. We have learned a lot and still get positively surprised with the hardworking and positive people we have found on our way. Therefore, when we receive volunteers, they are treated as family.
Tasks and roles:
We need help with agriculture, you will learn the basics on how to clean the ground, how to cut grass, trees and bushes, take care of the chicken, organic agriculture, permaculture, olive and caroub picking, the process of turning into olive oil and much more!

What else?
We are situated in the countryside but close to a city (4 km away) and the coast line. The region is situated in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa. There are lots of activities several beaches and islands to visit. One can even cross from island to island when low tide. There are bicycles here that you can use if you wish to move somewhere. Otherwise, there are buses and trains. The season for us start already in April, there will be new guests coming and leaving and the place needs to be continuously maintained. We are looking for volunteers that could stay a minimum of one month. We need people with a positive attitude, open and joyful with a sense of initiative.
